Bin Baz

He is the Faqih (Scholar of Fiqh) the Imaam al-‘Allamah Abu Abdullah Abdul-Aziz Ibn ‘Abdullah Ibn Abdur-Rahman ibn Baz. He was born in the city of Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Dhul-Hijjah 1330 of the Islamic calendar which corresponds to 1909 and he died on Thursday, the 27th of Muharram 1420 which corresponds to May 13, 1999. From his teachers are Shaikh Muhammad ibn Abdul-Lateef Aal ush-Shaikh, Shaikh Saalih ibn Abdul-Aziz Aal ush-Shaikh and Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Aal ush-Shaikh, thus he acquired his religious education from the family of the Imaam Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhab.

He lost his sight at an early age yet he memorized the Qur’an in his youth and later in life he was appointed as a judge and worked in the judiciary for fourteen years until he was assigned to the education facility. He taught at Riyadh Islamic Law College and was later appointed the President of the Islamic University of al-Madinah.

Later he was appointed President of the General Presidency of Islamic Research, Ifta, Call and Propagation and He held the position of the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia until his death, rahimahullah.
