Therefore, a vital question is: what are the keys to happiness? Imam Ibn al-Qayyim tackles this question in this book and mentions a number of ways to attain happiness in light of the Qur’an and the Sunnah, starting with the fundamental of all fundamentals, which is Tawhid (Islamic Monotheism). He explains what happiness is and he clarifies the way to attain it. Al-Allamah Muhammad Aman al-Jami mentions some explanatory comments to the tremendous words of Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
This is the first task of the religion; or rather, it is its foundational task, such that there is no task other than it. Namely, release the human being from his habitual whims, his soul’s desires and embrace the commands of Allah and His Messenger. Upon the fulfillment of this purpose, the individual will inherently be a judge on himself/herself: is he/she a sincere adherent to his Lord’s religion, or is this just an empty claim where the words boast of it while there is no reality behind it? If the individual submits his heart to Allah, the Lord of the universe, and His commands and prohibitions then this is true submission; otherwise, if he contends with Allah in His commands, prohibitions, fate and divine decree, what kind of Muslim is this?!
Tafsir As-Sa’di is a straightforward, easy to read, easy to understand explanation of the meaning of Qur’anic Ayat and statements. In addition to the simplicity of Ibn Sa’di’s writing, it is also articulate and eloquent. Consequently, for those newly acquainted with Tafsir and those new to Islam, this Tafsir provides an uncomplicated, deep and insightful comprehension into the meaning and explanation of the Qur’an. The uniqueness of this Tafsir is in the style the Shaikh used to explain the Ayat in a way that it is similar to everyday writing, without listing the various prophetic sayings or statements of the scholars of Tafsir, which Shaikh Ibn Sa’di used as a basis of his Tafsir.
Eventually the diligent reader will easily recognize those places, learn about them, and take heed of them while reciting. The Atlas has also revealed obscure places we used to pass through inattentively, like the site where Nuh’s Ark settled, the site of the curved Sand-hills {Al Ahqah}, the cave of the young faithful men, the houses of median, the site of Sodom and other places determined by the Atlas depending on reliable sources.
Thus the Atlas eliminates all the guessing and the fantasies we used to encounter when reciting the Noble Quran, and takes us to the specific place.
I advise the scholars and all those who are involved in calling to ALLAH to take advantage of this opportunity and exert all their efforts in calling to ALLAH and teaching the people the reason for their creation; which is worshipping Allah, obeying Him, reading His Book and so on. I advise them to engage in everything they possibly can, including delivering the jumu’ah khutbah along with other sermons during suitable occasions, authoring books and involving themselves with the different types of media outlets such as the radio, television and newspapers.
